Description

Join us November 18-20, 2016 for a weekend of musical workshops, concerts, hand pans, new friends, and alpacas. The 3 day retreat will be facilitated by NYC based multi-instrumentalist and educator, Adam Maalouf. This OPEN LEVEL retreat will feature workshops on both, the world's most ancient, and most modern instruments, the Frame Drum and Hand Pan. Together, we will dive into ancient rhythms and melodies from around the world, and will become more in touch with our inner musicians through rhythmic vocalizations and rhythm-development exercises for all levels.

*There will be high quality instruments available for purchase, as well as student instruments to practice on during the weekend.

Adam Maalouf is a performer, composer, and educator. As a specialist in percussion from around the world, Adam's unique interpretation of World Music is channeled through genre-bending compositions for solo and ensembles. Adam is a disciple of the top names in percussion such as Anindo Chatterjee, Glen Velez, River Guerguerian, Rohan Krishnamurthy, and Bob Moses to name a few. As a collaborator, Adam has worked with countless ensembles and renowned musicians, including Pink Martini, Brooklyn Raga Massive, Ensemble Signal, the National Arabic Orchestra, Farah Siraj, Lizz Wright, Common Pulse, Jamey Haddad, Raquy Danzinger, Suzanne Sterling, Morley, The Asheville Percussion All-Stars, The Gil Evan's Centennial Project and with many other musicians and projects.
